The Fall of BLFCorp

2013

The Standards to Meet

For the sake of efficiency, BLFCorp and the Hushpuppies started establishing demands and regulations for citizens to meet. Such regulations include: restrictions on imaginary species, high hug quotas, emotion monitoring, minimum Blood-Liquid Fluid Content, and strict fur lushness standards.

Some of these new demands were not received favorably by the populous. A small resistance emerges.

Disgruntled at his regime job as an alphabetizer, Sam Parker's father, Benjamin, joins the early resistance. Mr. Parker begins holding secret, non-government meetings at his family's house. He is so active within the resistance that he becomes one of the major figure heads of the resistance.

"Stupid Little Book"

Sam and Süz meet up and become friends, this is how their story unfolds as told by Tiberius T. Skunk, a historian from 2039:

Sam, our legendary wandering hyena, was pushing his merchant wagon through the dusty sands, into a small village. Business during this vague era tended to be slow, so to pass the time, Sam would often read from a small selection of books that he had acquired during his travels. He has so few books that he had memorized them all. One of his favorites is the mysterious diary of Chai Atkinson. Sam didn't believe any of the diary to be true, rather believing it to be the machinations of a crazy woman or child. The day passed with few customers interested in his wares. Suddenly, a small sergal girl wandered up to his makeshift store. Sam was reading the diary at this time, and the girl, intrigued by the diary, hatched a little plan. The sergal grabbed a random assortment of items, asking for the price of each one. Sam put the book down to answer her questions when suddenly, the girl grabbed the diary and ran away with it!

"Hey you little cheese-headed urchin! Come back here!" Sam shouted and chased after her. The chase ensued until Sam turned a corner to find the sergal clambering over a fence. As she crested the fence, the diary slipped out of her paws. Sam grabbed the book while exclaiming profanities at her. She immediately jumped and reached for the book, but Sam managed to keep it out of her reach.

"What's so interesting about this stupid little book?" Sam asked.

The little sergal with tears welling in her eyes, snapped "It's not stupid! It's my life!".

"What do you mean it's your life?".

"My mom wrote it!".

Sam paused for a moment, not believing at first that this fictional story was coming to life in front of him. "Wait, you're Suzie?!".

The sergal pointed at his face and exclaimed, "It's Süz, Now!" She grabbed the book from Sam's paws and clung to it.

That night Süz revealed the rest of the story from her mom's diary, exposing what had happened after the final passage and explaining why she needed the diary to help find her mother. Sam, moved by Süz's story of her missing mom, decided to help Süz find her.

The Hunt

Mysterious figures raid a small village. They assault the house of a family of former hushpuppies who are keepers of a library, collecting history related to BLFCorp and the Bromethean Regime. As a direct result of the raid, the youngest child Zero is forced to escape the library with crucial maps and documents.

The group, unable to find anything useful, begin their hunt for the exiled Zero, expecting their documents to be in his possession.

2030

Bonds are Formed

While scavenging outside an abandoned warehouse, Süz and Sam are distracted by a commotion inside. Carefully hidden, they spy on a group accosting a frightened and cornered Zero. They quickly realize that the band of mysterious masked figures is the fabled and notorious Sons of Brometheus. Before this point, only rumors could be heard of their existence. The Sons of Brometheus are very real and they are on the hunt for documents that will lead them to the secret labs of the Bromethean Regime.

The two scavengers hatch a plan and lure away the Sons with a "clever ruse", which gives Zero a chance to flee. Tired and exhausted, Zero doesn't get far, stumbles, falls, and abruptly passes out.

Curious about the conflict, Sam and Süz return to find Zero passed out. After waking him up, they reassure him that they are not with The Sons. The curious Sam and Süz have a discussion about what transpired with the grateful Zero.

The three young furs become friends and are now inseparable.

Three Young Inseparable Furs

2032

Liquid is Discovered

The three young furs split up to find food and supplies inside of an abandoned factory. After drawing straws, Sam is stuck going into the dark recesses of the warehouse’s basement. Once there, Sam stumbles upon a few small barrels of a mysterious substance that smells like apples. “Hmm, smells like apples.”

A Prophet’s Vision: Sam is intrigued by the aroma of the substance, and helps himself to some of his new found bounty. His sampling turns to sipping, and sipping turns to chugging. He soon becomes bewitched. He receives a vision. The pipes and ladders of the warehouse become the trees of his childhood. With every new sip of Liquid he can see the silhouette of his mother nearing closer and closer. His vision is interrupted when one of his friends calls to him. The silhouette splits into two and the rustling forest melts away, back to the rusting metal pipes. Sam is left looking at his friends. Still in his daze, Sam believes himself to be enlightened. He frantically explains his discovery with his friends, who are confused and alarmed at his altered state. Süz and Zero drag Sam off in the hopes of calming him down.

Project Greenlight is incepted: Sam describes what he found in the warehouse. Leaving Sam in Zero’s care, Süz goes to investigate the basement. Upon seeing the label of the mysterious liquid for herself, she hurries back to camp to find her diary and confirm that Sam had found the very same liquid that is detailed in her mother’s diary. Throughout the day and partly into the night, she becomes enamored with the seductive and powerfully mesmerizing properties of liquid.

His first crush: Zero is disturbed with Sam’s altered behavior and Süz's sudden interest over the nature of this liquid. In the middle of night, with Sam passed out and Süz too obsessed over her diary to notice him sneaking away, he absconds. Zero sneaks back into the warehouse, exploring the basement to find the barrels of liquid that Sam had discovered. Concerned of the power that this substance seems to have over his friends, Zero breaks the seals of the barrels and lets the mysterious liquid seep into the cracks in the foundation.

Three Young Inseparable Friends: Süz and Zero wake up the next morning, only to find Sam’s empty bedroll. The two run towards the warehouse and towards the echoing sounds of growling and empty barrels being tossed. Süz and Zero frantically race down to the basement of the warehouse to find Sam on his knees. Sam turns around stares at this friends, his eyes appearing as a pair of deep spiraling whirlpools. He shouts. “What did you do?!?”

Startled, but with no remorse, Zero explains that he did this deed to save Sam’s life. Sam is distraught, confused and enraged. He shouts, telling them that they have ruined his life and that they need to leave him alone. As Süz and Zero leave the warehouse, Zero tries to explain to Süz why he did it. Süz, appalled at the betrayal and the squandered opportunity, accuses Zero of being a traitor and tells him that he is no better than a HushPuppy before stomping off. The three part ways…

The Exile returns: Having nowhere to go, Zero returns to his former home, stumbling upon the remains of the library that used to be. Attempting to prove to himself that he did the right thing, he begins seeking more information about Liquid. As Zero learns more, he becomes disillusioned by his findings of the travesties committed by the regime. His disillusion turns to disgust, in a fit of rage, he throws his lantern into a large pile of books. The books catch the flame, and what was once a small fire quickly becomes a raging inferno. He stands, watching the fire engulf his former home, his family’s legacy, and all records of Brometheus, the Bromethean Regime and Liquid. As the fire dies down Zero’s eye catches a glint of something amongst the ashes. Hoping he had destroyed everything, he is surprised to find his father’s Hushpuppy helmet which had only received a few cracks and scuffs. He keeps it so he will never forget the mistakes of the past and the burden upon his life.

Growing Thirst: Days later, Sam continues scavenging the factory to finally discover one remaining barrel of Liquid. With barrel in tow, he heads off on a journey to share his experience with others. Sam calls his growing thirst-based following S.N.U.G. And as its spiritual leader, changes his name to Quench. S.N.U.G. and its followers begin scavenging the lands for Liquid.

2035

Our Story Begins

Liquid is gaining controversial interest amongst the populous, and new small scattered batches of concentrated liquid are being discovered.

Süz begins Project Greenlight: With new sources of Liquid to experiment with, Süz begins tapping into its more “inspirational” properties in works of art. Her goal, to make something beautiful out of the ugliness that came before. She inspires many to advance her endeavor, using liquid to paint the Grand Sierra Region wherever they can with murals, tags, and slogans.

S.N.U.G. announces their prophecy: S.N.U.G. declares that they will do whatever it takes to protect Liquid from the unenlightened. Quench prophesizes that there is a yet to be discovered haven. A land of where Liquid flows freely, in the waterfalls, in the rivers, in the fountains. A land where every DewDrop can never go thirsty again. They begin building a network of sanctuaries out of the remains of warehouses, all hoarding Liquid.

The Crushpuppies are formed: Alarmed at the new discovery of scattered sources of Liquid, Zero is reminded about the terrible secrets that he found in his family’s library and the incident with Sam (now Quench). He fears the true power of Liquid and sees the seeds of the fallen regime taking root again. He begins gathering people forming the CrushPuppies, a group dedicated to the restoration of society without the use of Liquid and the memories of the past.

2036

The rumblings begin

The Crushpuppies diligently continue their work. They erase the creations of the original rebels, the ghost of the old regime and any traces of Liquid. Not even the new works created by Project Greenlight are spared in their wake.

Süz and Project Greenlight are furious over how the Crushpuppies are indiscriminately removing their art from the world and S.N.U.G.’s hoarding of Liquid. They decree that they are the only ones who can be trusted with such a powerful tool. They redouble their efforts, painting the landscape with their message.

S.N.U.G. declares Liquid to be sacred. Quench goes on to condemn Project Greenlight’s blatant misuse of liquid as paint to be blasphemy and considers the CrushPuppies’ destruction of Liquid as the ultimate unforgivable act. They set out to correct the mistakes of the unenlightened by converting as many blind souls as possible. They refine their process for converting followers from non-believers by feeding Liquid to the blind “willingly”.

Amongst every faction, traitors lurk in the shadows.

Conflict ensues between the factions over the remaining Liquid.

Late 2036

The Conflict Begins

The largest batch of Liquid ever is discovered.

All the factions are preparing to retrieve what each say is rightfully theirs. They prepare their followers for the conflict to come. Quench vows to lead his collective to the promised land. Süz is determined to use this to bring about a brighter future for everyone. Zero proclaims this to be the last crush.

2037

Epilogue
